Brett's Log

A regular viewpoint from Brett Dudley, managing director of ecruising.travel

There's never been a better time to cruise

I remember when I fell in love with cruising. It was just after my 21st birthday (okay, early 1980s) and a mate and I virtually stowed away aboard the Oriana for two weeks in a quad berth cabin for the princely sum of $995 each.

We thought that was a bargain. But when you consider that it cost less than ten bucks to fill my car then and now it costs nearly a hundred, you begin to get a perspective on things. Let's not start on real estate!

In the last couple of months ecruising.travel have had one after
another bargain cruises on drop-dead fabulous ships for about the
price of a lube and oil change on my current car. Take the one on this
page for example. Thirty nights on a 90,000 ton superliner visiting
Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Polynesia for $5499 – and that's with
airfares and two hotel nights!

How come? Well, I'm not about to give any trade secrets away, but at
ecruising.travel we get the pick of the ships and the cabins because
of the volume we do. We sell lots of cruises. The cruise lines know
this and they look after us – so we can look after our customers.
That's you.

Cruise ships are getting bigger – and bigger. You don't have to be a
Reserve Bank governor to know that it's easier to manage purchasing
and stores for larger numbers and pass on those savings to customers.
Add on the strength of our dollar and it all falls into place. It's
never been cheaper to cruise – ever – and the ships are newer and more
luxurious by far.

As readers of Cruising News, most of you will have cruised on many
ships of all shapes and sizes. Some of you will prefer the smaller,
more intimate product, and be prepared to pay the premium, while
others will be just looking for a fun getaway for a week or so. Either
way, there are ships and itineraries in abundance. It's a real buyers'
market.

At ecruising.travel we work hard to make it easy for our customers.
You can log onto our web site and be booked and ticketed, including
airfares, in less than an hour. Our streamlined systems and attentive
staff gain praise from customers and awards from our suppliers. Like
the 'Best On-Line Partner, Asia Pacific' from the mighty Costa Cruises
now expanding into Asia.

I still love cruising and I know you do too. Share the passion with
us. We know what you're looking for.

Keep cruising
Brett
