Speaking of Hong Kong, I just flew in myself this morning and wanted to quickly tell you about a story that was in yesterdays Hong Kong paper. Phoenix Island is to be built on a reef in Santa Bay covering more than 360,000 square metres and is linked to Santya city by a 400 metre bridge. The 10 Billion yaun development is being marketed as the Hainan's answer to Dubai's manmade Palm Island. The 5 block's of 1800 apartments will be one element in the project that includes a luxury hotel, a convention centre, a health resort, a yacht club, a harbour shopping centre, a theme park and a cruise terminal! A berth for ships with a displacement of 100,000 tonnes is already in service on the Island and a second, for shuttles with a displacement of 60,000 tonnes is to be opened by next year. Now here's the best part, A third terminal for larger 250,000 tonne ships is scheduled to be completed by 2010! Construction of the apartments is due to commence this October.
