I know Kristy keeps telling you I'm away and I keep getting emails from regular clients asking me where are you, glad you miss me! I'm currently in Hong Kong where we have set up a new regional office, I'll be spending time here and the Sydney office. So from now on, where possible, I'll be writing the newsletter intro's. Good news for the cruise industry as oil prices fall and talk of it going even further. Cruise lines are removing their fuel surcharges, reducing fares by hundreds of dollars. We are updating the site with all the new fares, please ask your consultant if you'd paid in full for a cruise next year as all lines have a differant rule, of course!
Royal Caribbean have opened their own office in Australia which is great news. What that means is they are serious about Australia and will look at home porting ships here, as long as we can get the port infustructure right. With the opening brings some changes to the fare structure; all 2009 and beyond fares for Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara will be now priced in Australian dollars. Can't say I'm a fan of this but it's not my decision.

Great news - fuel surcharges removed! As Brett mentioned above, in light of the decline in the price of crude oil, a number of cruise lines, including NCL, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Azamara and Regent Seven Seas have removed fuel surcharges from their cruises departing on or after 1 January 2009. We are currently in the process of updating our website with the new, reduced rates. The general rule from the majority of the cruise lines seems to be that, for those booked on sailings from 1 January onwards, if you have paid for your cruise in full, you will be refunded the fuel supplement in the form of an onboard credit during your sailing. For those who have not yet paid in full, the fuel supplement will be removed from your outstanding balance. This is a general rule though and may vary slightly between cruise lines so please check with your consultant.
Carnival to suspend pre-paid gratuities. Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that they will suspend pre-paid gratuities for Australian guests for a period of 4 months. All new bookings made from now for sailings between January 1 and April 30 2009 with not have the pre-paid gratuities included in the package price.
