Yesterday, ecruising and APT took 40 of our POSH Club members on a trip to the Hunter Valley for a day of wine tasting, great food and lots of fun. After taking off from the city and some extra pick-ups along the way, we headed down the tourist drive through Kulnura and Central Mangrove to Wollombi. Wollombi Tavern put on a beautiful morning tea outside for us in the picnic area with warm scones with jam and cream and tea and coffee... A great way to stretch the legs as well! From here we headed to McGuigans winery where we were escorted to a private tasting room set up just for us. We tasted a variety of whites, reds and dessert wines and I noticed there was a purchase or 2 before we left. Some even snuck out to the Hunter Valley Cheese Factory next door to buy up big!
From here we headed to our lunch stop, McWilliams Mount Pleasant Estate. While the staff were cooking up our lunch our fantastic guide gave us a history of the McWilliams family and the vineyard before showing us around the wine making facilities and into the enormous sheds where the barrels are kept. I think we are all experts now in how to make both red and white wine! We had a beautiful lunch at McWilliams with a variety of wines on our tables for tasting....and a birthday cake for our birthday boy Maurie! The staff at both McGuigans and McWilliams were excellent and very helpful. After lunch we headed to the Hunter Valley Gardens and Village for some free time and a wander around the village....where I think most headed off to the chocolate shop! A quick group photo and we were back on the road headed for home. I'm sure everyone had a fun day and a big thank you to those who came.

Celebrity is based on USD so imagine how cheap it would have been if the dollar was higher. The Aussie is currently hovering around .65. For our Private Orion Charter next year, I'm happy to announce Professor Ross Dowling and his wife will be joining us. Professor Ross Dowling, Foundation Professor and Head of Tourism at Edith Cowan University, WA and his wife Wendy will be our guest guides and lecturers on board. Professor Dowling will bring a wealth of knowledge with him and enhance our cultural experience. In 2008 he completed a two year study into Cruising in the Kimberley Region for the Western Australian Government. Professor Dowling specialises in ecotourism, geotourism, cruising and wildlife tourism and has written books on all of these subjects. He has a deep interest in Cruising and has led a Quark Expeditions tour into the Antarctic on board the Kapitan Dranitsyn.
In addition he has lectured on board Cunard’s QEII in the Pacific as well as Silversea Cruises Silver Shadow in South East Asia and Silver Cloud around New Zealand. He is the editor of the world’s first comprehensive research compendium on ‘Cruise Ship Tourism’ which was published in Oxford, England in 2006. Professor Dowling’s wife Wendy is also a seasoned cruise lecturer and during the cruise she will present a lecture on ‘Natural Approaches to Women’s Health’.. | Royal Caribbean will deploy a ship in Dubai starting 2010. Brilliance of the Seas will be based in the Middle East from January to April, targeted at an international mix of customers. Itineraries for the seven-night Arabian Gulf cruises announced soon.
